PLACES ~ London Five of the best terraces and courtyards

This amazing looking seating area is on the Ombrellini terrace at Aqua Nueva, the rooftop restaurant overlooking central London. It recently had a makeover by Italian design wizards Missoni. The new look is right on retro target and is really stunning.

The British Airways magazine BA High Life featured their top five terraces and courtyards in London in their August magazine. They are all lovely, but this one is my favourite. Have a look at them here:

Late summer is decadent. It fills your senses with colour, scent and tastes. It always reminds me of the end of a great love affair.

You are not quite ready to let it go, clinging on to moments past, gathering the scent of faded blooms and letting the feel of the warmth on your skin envelop you, one last time.

Late summer is a time of indulgence,  embracing family, friends, pets and food, making the most of any last minute sunshine and late night light.

Celebrate what is left of your summer, wherever that you are.

  1. Heavenly summer....I love your background, who painted it? Could it be Whistler, it seems to be his style...Have a lovely week. Sharon

    1. It also reminds me of Whistler, which is how I first fiound it as our family are big fans of his. But it is by Sir Edmund Tarbell a very good but relatively unknown painter. It is called The Blue Veil.

  5. Hello:
We do so agree about late summer being a time of 'indulgence' and for us the perfect summer weather continues, allowing us yesterday to picnic beside a lake some forty or so miles from Budapest.

  7. September is a WONDERFUL month ~ nights feel cooler, but days are still warm. I'd love to have lunch under the arbor there, nestled onto cushion and looking up threw the leaves! :)))))

  8. Hello,
I added the terrace tip to the other blogger-tips in my little pink book - next time I am in London again I will go up. Friends of us have moved: they converted a top floor - and now you have a breath-taking view over Berlin - so wonderful! A good way to enjoy the autumnal sunrays.

    1. Ruthie, Autumn and late Summer have been changing places each day here, it has been very hard to stay in one mood or the other. I loved your post about Autumn - it is such a time of celebration and you paid it a wonderful tribute. I'm sure it is here now, the leaves are crinkling and the air has changed. Minerva x
