I will create a shorter post with less detail as I cannot write anything better than this!
The day was magical at the manor and thank you for showing the photos of me in the gardens. I loved those gardens and I really did not want to leave the house either. The attic rooms were our favourite place of all. I so wished we could have gone back in time and met the Morris family and talked to them!
I do want to visit again, thats for sure!
Have a good weekend and speak again soon.
Jo. xJo Potterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08365999873131320691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8999049516813772095.post-42514478527726430712013-08-02T07:35:22.693+01:002013-08-02T07:35:22.693+01:00Thank you for taking me to a gorgeous manor tour. ...Thank you for taking me to a gorgeous manor tour. I had a glimpse of what Kelmscott Manor was like or its history or Morris family. The painting "The Long Walk"is very beautiful, quiet and introspective.
By the way, when I posted a shot of clear stream with tiny white aqua flowers last year, someone told me it reminded her of Ophelia floating in a stream painted by John Millaias. That was when I knew Pre Raphaelites for the first time and I liked it.
If I had a chance, I'd like to visit this place.
Thank you for sharing.cosmoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18411297580664818094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8999049516813772095.post-72660243726650488072013-08-01T20:32:35.130+01:002013-08-01T20:32:35.130+01:00Lovely in-sightful post, thank you for sharing all...Lovely in-sightful post, thank you for sharing all these beautiful images looks like a place i would love to live. xPixiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02445090313729834184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8999049516813772095.post-46949094429844716302013-08-01T11:33:07.848+01:002013-08-01T11:33:07.848+01:00Brilliant post ... kept me captivated and interest...Brilliant post ... kept me captivated and interested to the end. What struck me right away was that the house has not changed much from the way it looked in that first drawing at the top of your post. I am not familiar with William Morris and now feel compelled to go through each of your links and learn more about this man who has struck a cord with me through your post. The quote of his that you included sealed the deal for me - it is exactly how I feel about my "things". Although I wish you could have taken pictures inside, maybe it is best to be able to just enjoy the house tour without worrying about capturing it on your camera. Lovely. I have never been to Kelmscott but now I feel I nust if ever I get the chance. Your writing and photo arrangements etc are perfect. Even the garden is perfect and a black cat in the car - a very good sign! Doesnt give as much insight into the man himself but very interesting and nice. One of Morris's greatest achievements I think was helping to start up the SPAB (Society for the protection of Ancient Buildings) which does so much good work and which I have been a member of for years.
